16. Psychoeducation



Psychoeducation is concerned with improving our understanding of mental health and wellbeing. It is evidence-based, and draws on a wide-range of expertise and experience to improve personal and professional support for managing mental health – especially for recovering from the impacts of stress and trauma.

All the content of this course is psychoeducational.

There are three main tools that survivors have told us have helped them most in understanding abuse and trauma and aiding their recovery:

  • The body’s threat system
  • Windows of tolerance
  • The grooming process
