The Angelou Centre is a Black‑led, women‑only organisation based in Newcastle upon Tyne offering trauma‑informed support to Black, Asian, minoritised and refugee women and children across the North East. Services include culturally sensitive counselling and therapy, ISVA/IDVA advocacy, safe accommodation, wellbeing courses and social groups, legal advice on immigration and protective violence issues, training for professionals, and outreach. They support survivors of domestic abuse (including honour-based and forced marriage), sexual violence, trafficking, childhood abuse, and female genital mutilation. Services are inclusive, confidential, accessibly delivered and run by women who look like and understand the communities they serve.
