Following the completion of a process of investigation by the NAPAC Board of Trustees, Peter Saunders agreed that in order to allow NAPAC to focus on supporting survivors, he would step down from his role as Founder and Spokesperson, and will no longer be a NAPAC employee.

On 23 August 2019, the NAPAC Board of Trustees learnt through a media enquiry about a serious incident in 2008 involving Peter Saunders, the charity’s Founder and Spokesperson. On 27 August 2019, NAPAC decided to commission an external review by an independent governance expert to fully understand what governance systems existed at NAPAC at the time of the incident in 2008 and how they were applied. The review was also asked to examine NAPAC’s current governance systems and policies and how they would hold up in the case of a similar incident occurring. Click on the title to read more.

It is with regret the NAPAC Board of Trustees has suspended Pete Saunders from his role as Founder and Spokesperson with immediate effect. This period of suspension will allow a process of investigation into the issues raised by a story published on 25 August 2019 regarding an incident in 2008.
NAPAC has been awarded £347,712 from the Home Office through its Support for Victims and Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (SVSCSA) Fund, which is invested in UK-wide projects to support victims and survivors as they rebuild their lives.
